5 Tips to Spring Clean your Wardrobe

I'm super happy that it's finally meant to be sunnier now, the days are getting longer and the flowers are in full bloom. I think Spring is my favourite time of the year - until the hay-fever kicks in that is. I've been enjoying putting together 5 Tips posts so today's post is another one of those to add to the growing collection; I have a few more in mind too! And what better time than bank holiday to make the most of your wardrobe by having a wardrobe clearout, I always feel so refreshed when seasons change so having a good spring clean is essential.
My top tips:

1. Store away big coats
Coats take up so much space, wherever they're stored; I think in the winter we all want to look fashionable and what better way to do so than by wearing a statement coat. Surprisingly, I don't have a huge number of coats - maybe 3 or 4 - as a fashion blogger you'd think I'd have one for every day of the week, but I'm far more into my leather jackets (let's not mention how many of those I have... here's how I style leather jackets). In order to free up a little more space, store oversized coats in a box under your bed or on top of your wardrobe and that way you'll have so much more free space!

2. Get rid of any not-black-anymore jeans
You know what I'm talking about, the jeans that were once black but have now turned into some sort of washed grey shade. Yep, those. It's time to get a new pair - I hear so many people saying that every few months they're off to buy a new pair of black jeans because the colour fades so quickly. You may have got away with them tucked under huge jumpers and oversized outerwear but now that it's spring you'll be needing a new pair! See my Top 5 Jeans on YouTube and read the blog post.

3. Decide what you'll wear again next A/W and get rid of what you won't
My opinion is that if I didn't wear it at all over the past season, then I probably won't wear it next season, and if that's the case then it's time to give it the boot. For years I would keep jumpers tucked away in the back of my wardrobe that I never wore until I finally realised it was a waste of space. Tip for next season: roll necks will be huge so don't let those go just yet! See how I style roll necks and check out my posts from London Fashion Week to see which other trends to expect come Autumn/Winter.

4. Check what you already have for the season
I don't have a lot of wardrobe space at home and as the seasons begin to change so does my wardrobe. I store away summer pieces during the winter and when it begins to get warmer I swap those with my winter items. If you do the same, then I think it's important to look back at what you have so you avoid purchasing something similar. Here are my spring looks from last year (brace yourselves for low quality photos and awkward poses!) looking back at old photos is one of the best ways to remember what you've got without rummaging through your wardrobe.

5. Got a lot to go? Try selling or donating
I currently use Depop to sell my unwanted clothes. I'm an impulse buyer so a lot of the time I'll buy something because I think I love it and I'll get so much wear out if it but in reality it just hangs in my wardrobe. The best thing to do with used and unworn clothes is to try and sell them - somebody else will be able to enjoy the pieces. When it comes to clothes I've worn more than once, I take them to charity shops, they're still in good condition to wear but I feel that if I tried to sell something after it has been worn a few times I wouldn't end up making anything (postage costs and fees end up eating a lot out of any money you make) so what better than to help those in need.

Some things I'm selling on Depop (search peexo to find me!):

This bank holiday is the perfect time for a spring clean so you can start enjoying the sun.
Wishing you all a wonderful bank holiday Monday!

Will you be giving your wardrobe a spring clean?
