5 Tips for Buying Jeans (& my favourite 5 styles)

1. Try On
This is the most obvious but sometimes I feel too lazy to try on anything when shopping and end up buying things that I'm unsure even fit me properly. Who else is guilty of this? Well, when this happens I'm often left with things everywhere that I really don't need, and having to go back to store is a pain and I often end up going in do make a return but coming out with more clothes I probably don't need!

2. Choose what suits your shape
There are always popular jeans, like the Topshop Joni jeans that every teenage girl wears and we instantly feel compelled to buy them too to fit in and be considered fashionable. Or say your problem area is your stomach, then buying a pair of low rise jeans probably won't really suit your shape. The same goes for if you're quite petite, boyfriend jeans may seem to swallow you up. It's important to shop for your shape rather than buying what's considered to be fashionable.

3. Ask around for recommendations
I've been searching for a pair of white jeans for so long now and I keep asking around for some recommendations so I can have an idea of where to go and get what I want (really good, opaque white jeans? Any recommendations welcomed!) I asked which jeans I should buy from River Island on Twitter and ended up buying the Molly jeggings which I think are their most popular style.

4. Don't be afraid to size up or down
I'm never the same size in different shops, no matter where I go or if it's the same style of jeans, I always end up either having to go for a smaller size or size up. Different shops have different styles and different sizing so it's practically impossible to choose the same size wherever you go which is so annoying! Another reason why you must try on before you buy, especially if it's a new brand.

5. Plan Outfits
Again, when buying those fashionable jeans - think about how much wear you'll get out of them. Will they suit your style? What do you have in your wardrobe that will look good with those jeans? I'll admit it, I gave into the Joni jean trend and although a lot of people swear by them I'm really not their biggest fan; I find they come up a little smaller in size than the other Topshop jeans and I find it quite difficult to style them - under a jumper the high waist ends up looking bulky and I can't tuck in my jumpers because they're not baggy (at all!)
