Blogs Are Changing

The blogging world has changed so much since it first began, so much since I first started blogging around 4 years ago and I don't doubt that blogs will continue to change in years to come. As exciting as it is to be a part of this industry, it's also scary to not know what the future holds - it could be incredible but for me, the fear of the unknown kicks in. Most people, myself included, start up blogging as a hobby alongside something else, I don't think any of us who began blogging years ago thought it could ever end up being our job.

I remember when I first started my blog and chose the fashion/personal style route, the extent of my blog posts was to write about what I was wearing in that set of photos and honestly, that was something I absolutely loved about blogs. A blog felt like a bit of an escape from reality, where you don't need to be so serious all the time and if you love clothes then you can quite simply just talk about clothes! Why I bought these jeans, what I love about this top - that was all absolutely fine as the base of a blog post.

Don't get me wrong, I still think it is - after all, your blog will always be yours so you should write and share whatever you want to. However, this shift in the blogosphere has led to a need for more. By more I mean more consistency, more knowledge and more depth. london street style peexo blogpeexo blog personal style
The change I'm surrounded by is something that I personally struggle with. I love talking about clothes, what I'm wearing, the fit, why I put the outfit together but I can see that there is a demand for more: think-worthy pieces that offer you more than just a set of photos and why I love this jacket.

I've never been much of a writer and when it comes to clicking publish on a blog post, the writing aspect is the side that I struggle with the most. I can quite easily put together an outfit or two but I can't as easily put together the words to come up with something interesting to say alongside it. Whilst it's something that I would love to do, I don't always have enough I want to say. I still enjoy keeping my blog posts short - and hopefully sweet - but I can also see the demand for enriched, think pieces.

With that said, your blog is yours. I think that is the most important aspect to grasp. If there's anything you take from these ramblings I hope that it's those four words.
