Things have definitely brightened up this month, in more ways than one, which is such good news (and we definitely needed some good news!) Despite still spending the majority of my days at home this month, it's good to begin feeling a sense of normality return as we're able to spend more time outdoors and hopefully we'll soon be able to slowly start meeting our family and friends again. This month, I've taken some time away from the online world and also tried to be more grateful.

Beauty Products I've Loved Using

*Epilator Silk-épil 9, Braun [gifted] - It's been around a month since I started using this epilator and I could give you a list of the pros and cons but ultimately, I'm pleased with the results so I wanted to include it in my favourites this month. Since epilating, I've noticed my hairs grow back much finer and slower which has really impressed me. I won't lie to you though, it hurts. The first time I tried epilating my underarms, I had so many raised red bumps and it was so painful but as I epilate more often, the pain is subsiding (I'm getting more used to it I think) and my skin is no longer irritated or sore after use. Keep an eye out on my YouTube channel where I'll be sharing an in-depth review video and more about my experience soon.

*Retinol and ceramide capsules, Elizabeth Arden [gifted] - Admittedly, using acids has always been something that has scared me but after asking for some recommendations to clear acne scarring, retinol was the most highly recommended product. I decided to start on Elizabeth Arden retinol and ceramide capsules as each capsule holds the perfect amount of product for one use, the addition of ceramide makes it less irritating and drying meaning these can actually be used daily thanks to this combination. I haven't had any adverse effects whilst using these capsules so I couldn't recommend them enough for first time retinol users as they're so easy and not so harsh on your skin.

*Gel nail varnish, Gellen - I bought a lot of gel nail varnishes over the lockdown period but they were never quite right. This set is the best one I've found! It was pretty affordable, at around £15, for 6 gel polishes of 8ml. I was on the hunt for pastel nail varnish as I love the multi-tonal colours and the colours in this set are perfect in my opinion. I plan to have beautiful pastel manicures all summer long and I even think the nude colour will be perfect for autumn/winter too!

*Pocket SPF, La Roche Posay [gifted] - As I mentioned I've started using retinol, applying SPF daily has become even more imperative as using acids makes your skin more sensitive to sun exposure. I love this pocket SPF because of its size, it's perfect for daily use but also a good one to pop in a handbag if you're heading out to sunbathe at a park (responsibly!)

What I've Watched this Month

The Founder : I had no idea about how McDonald's came to be and even found this to be a little bit sad as it involves so much greed (financially speaking). I watched this long-distance with my boyfriend whilst we were in lockdown. We're both McDonald's fans - who else is missing their McDonald's fix?! - and really enjoyed watching this which came as a bit of a surprise.

Dead To Me (Season 2) : I really enjoyed season 1 of Dead To Me and I binge watched season 2 in a day! It wasn't as good as season 1 in my opinion but I would still highly recommend watching it. I'm a fan of both leading ladies and, judging by the way season 2 ended *no spoilers*, I'm intrigued to see what season 3 may bring...

Little Fires Everywhere : Thoroughly enjoyed this series! Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng was one of my top books from last year and I also loved the adaptation. Admittedly, I worry whether either the book or series won't live up to the expectation of the other but in this case, I think both were just as good as each other. Regardless of whether you have or haven't read the book, the series is worth watching. It's available on Amazon Prime Video.

This Month I...

...spent a week offline (kind of)
Instagram hasn't been a good space for me recently which is disheartening. The uncertainty Covid-19 has brought onto so many of us and our jobs has been overwhelming. Personally, I've noticed a huge difference in my workload both in terms of sponsored content as well as gifting which impacts me and my job massively. After trying to create a small shoot space at home, I found my content has really plummeted. I've lost a lot of followers and honestly, it's hard. It's hard to feel motivated and try to have a positive outlook when there are a lot of negatives.

So I decided to give myself a break from it all to re-asses and just not stress about it to be honest! There are enough things going on in the world. I spent a week without going on Instagram which was nice but I did miss scrolling! I'm trying to not put so much pressure on myself, especially during this period of so much uncertainty.

...got creative
With a lot more time on my hands, I've been trying out some more creative outlets. Bracelet making has been keeping me occupied! I've made a few summer bracelets for myself and also for my friends and it's been a nice way to stay busy.

...said yes more
I'm embarking on a new venture which is both scary and exciting. I don't have much else to say about this but it's encouraged me to just say yes more!
