March 2019

monthly recap march 2019This post contains affiliate links marked with [*].

I don't have a lot to say this month to be honest! I said this early on, when I first started these monthly recaps, some months there will be a lot I want to talk about (like in Febaury, read my blog post: February 2019) and in other months there will be very little to talk about, like this month. So here's what's been happening this month...

It's been ages since I've given up something for Lent but this year I decided to give up chocolate and crisps in the lead up to Easter (initially I had planned to give up chocolate and biscuits but quickly decided this would be too difficult if I wanted to have a cup of tea and a biscuit, so I changed my mind at the last minute). Honestly, it's been so hard! I snack a lot and usually on junk food, I could easily get through a family sized bar of chocolate in a day which isn't healthy so I'm hoping that cutting back will help me realise I don't need to eat chocolate and crisps as often as I used to. Although I can't wait for Easter Sunday to eat all of the mini eggs!!

When it comes to content, I've been slacking a little bit with my blog and YouTube this month. I find that when I travel, I have a list of ideas and things I'd like to shoot but once I'm actually abroad it becomes incredibly difficult to create content - I haven't quite mastered travelling and content creation yet! So I've missed a couple of blog posts and video uploads (due to travels, read my blog post: Copenhagen from my iPhone, and the awful weather we had at the start of the month). But with the help of the sunshine, I'm getting back in to the swing of things!

I've been thinking about a content/schedule change up next month which I'm quite excited about (it's always the simple things that get me haha!) I'll keep you updated on that.

Here's something that's really been bothering me recently; constantly typing "I don't work on a gifting basis meaning anything gifted to me is for consideration only unless sponsored which I hope you understand." This has been my response to so many emails recently I could do it with my eyes closed. I've always had emails about receiving so called gifts in exchange for posts but so far this year it's been at its highest ever! Why does it seem that every brand really wants to work with you, but only for free?!

I've left emails unanswered for a little too long and I haven't had a lot of work opportunities come through so far this year, which has really put a downer on me and my mood towards work. It's just so scary - when you're working by yourself and for yourself, it can become increasingly difficult to motivate yourself to do more. So I'm hoping that immersing myself in content creation will keep me motivated. The weather is definitely helping too!

Anyway, on to my reading this month. I started the month really well and read Blood Orange by Harriet Tyce in record time - because I only had a few days to read it - I think it only took me two days to get through! In light of International Women's Day earlier on in the month, I started to read Feminists Don't Wear Pink (And Other Lies) by Scarlett Curtis which is quite different to the usual style of book I go for so I dip in and out of it. I wanted to start on another fiction book and decided to read The Flatshare by Beth O'Leary which I'm not too far in to yet but enjoying it so far.

& that's it for March!
