10 Productive Things To Do Whilst Self-Isolating at Home

10 productive things to do at homeAffiliate links are marked with [*] and gifted items marked with [gifted].

Hands up if you're using this time to be more productive? I'm definitely trying to get stuff done but honestly, some days I just spend lounging around in pyjamas which I also think is completely fine! I wanted to put together this blog post for those of you who are after a bit of inspiration at this time. There are some big tasks to take on and some smaller ones you can tackle in under an hour so just choose whatever works for you!

1. Organise/Sort Your Phone

Your camera roll is a good place to start. Take the time to go through your camera roll and delete all the screenshots, duplicate photos and whatever else you don't need but have somehow gathered over the years. Once you've finished that, sort through your apps to categorise them. Delete anything you don't use and that's taking up space on your phone. A few examples include old podcast downloads, that series on Netflix you've now finished watching and any voice notes you have on your phone too.

It's also a nice opportunity to spruce up your home screen and change your screensaver for spring.

2. Spring Clean The House

It's the perfect time for a spring clean so why not get started? We're all being much more meticulous with disinfectant and anti-bacterial product(s) so an intense spring clean should be equally helpful. Currently, I'm tackling one room at a time and giving each a really good clean. I'm also using this opportunity to go through drawers, cupboards and more! You'll be surprised at what's still lurking in your cupboards, unused (and potentially unopened), from years ago.

3. Do a Wardrobe Clear out

This is definitely on the cards for me and I want to get this done fairly soon. I think in between seasons is the perfect time to have a clear out because you can also store away past season's clothing and bring out anything you have sitting in storage boxes from previous years too! Two jobs in one. It's always a hefty task but one that needs to be done.

I know that I won't be able to sell or donate any of the clothing I no longer want at the moment due to the current situation so I'm holding off until a later date to do this. I suggest packing any items away in suitcases or storage bags/boxes (vacuum bags are also a good storage solution) and then opting to sell or donate at a later date.

4. Declutter Makeup and Beauty Products

Donate or pass on any products that you don't reach for and check the expiry dates of products you've had for a while (this is usually indicated by a little open jar with the number of months use labelled inside). If you've had it for too long then think about binning it as it could do more harm than good to your skin.

I did this over the weekend and breathed a huge sigh of relief once it was over. My beauty drawers needed a good sort through (and a thorough clean for that matter!) I spent a day emptying out, cleaning and decluttering my makeup and beauty collection last week and felt so much better for it afterwards.

Oh and I filmed it! Watch here: Makeup and Beauty Collection Declutter | Peexo

1. Wash Your Makeup Brushes

Admittedly, this is still on my to-do list and has been for weeks but why is washing makeup brushes always such an arduous task?! With that said, it needs to be done so why not get it done today? *making a mental note for myself with this one*

6. Bake

I've been really enjoying baking recently! It looks like a lot of us have taken to baking as a coping mechanism and I for one am not even mad about it. I really enjoying baking (usually I bake with my dad which is always nice as it's something we get to do together!) You can bake a homemade treat for yourself or why not try a larger bake to share with your neighbours?

Some of my favourites so far have been Kate La Vie's Banana Loaf (here), The Anna Edit's Lemon Drizzle cake (here) and Em Sheldon's Oat Cookies (here)

7. Read More

Whether you pick up a brand new book or flick through magazine articles you haven't yet read, encourage yourself to do some reading. Personally, I've been reading so much more recently and I'm really enjoying picking up a book to switch off from time to time. I've even downloaded the Kindle app on my phone so that I have something to read at all times.

8. Listen to Podcasts

Admittedly, I'm not the biggest podcast listener but I'm very excited that the High Low is back today which I couldn't be more excited about! It's a long episode so may take me a while to get through but I thoroughly enjoy listening to this podcast so I can't wait to get started.

What are your podcast recommendations?

9. Create Something

Complete a puzzle, tackle a colouring book or do some doodling. These are all easy tasks to help pass time and can even help you to switch off, relax and unwind if only for a short moment. In January I started a bullet journal for 2020 and I find it's such a great way to get my creativity flowing regardless of whether you're a creative person or not.

10. DIY

You know that DIY task you've been putting off for the longest time? Get it done!

Recently, I changed up some shelving in my room which I've been meaning to do for years but have never had the time to take the whole thing apart and get painting/spray painting. It took a few days to do but I'm so pleased that I finally did it.

I filmed this too! Watch here: Beauty Storage DIY | Peexo

    1. Right?! But since we're on our phones so much (or I am at least) it's good to have a decluttered screen! Xx
