From the packaging I actually thought this was some sort of foundation or primer or something along those lines, I never expected it to be a lipstick so when I opened it up I was pleasantly surprised, it comes packaged in a box (which you can see at the very end of this post). I was instantly obsessed over the colour, I love a good red lip, it's a colour I don't shy away from so I was really excited to try a red in liquid lipstick form.
I have the shade 11, Modernist from the Pure Lust Extreme Matte Tint range by Cailyn.
In terms of colour, it looks like a true red in the tube but you can tell it's got some lighter orange undertones which makes it perfect for summer time!
The applicator is a standard one when it comes to liquid lipsticks, most come with a dofer applicator which allows for easy application on the lips. I think the thing with matte lipsticks is just how liquid they really are, this one takes a few minutes to dry which in my opinion is a good thing as it means you get a little more time to work with the product on your lips before it dries and becomes matte. It's super easy to apply, glides onto the lips really well and leaves a really nice matte finish a couple of minutes later.
Although I love the colour and think it applies really well it's not the kind of lipstick you'd wear out to dinner. Despite being matte it isn't stuck in place, I found that after eating and drinking it began to disappear. It's also really easy to remove which can either be a good thing or a bad thing; good because it means you won't have to be tough on your lips to get it off but bad because it obviously means it isn't super long lasting.
With that said, I wouldn't recommend reapplying it. As it's a liquid lipstick once you go over one dry coat with a wet one it dries unevenly (unless you're meticulous with your application and do it in the exact same way second time around). If you want to reapply then I would probably start over, it's easy to remove so it won't be too problematic and you'll have a nicer finish overall.
I got my Cailyn lipstick in this month's Love Me Beauty box which you've probably seen feature a couple of times on here as well as on Instagram and I also did an unboxing when I received it on snapchat too - add me: pee.xo - I've also got a discount code with Love Me Beauty and for this month only you can get 50% off (that's £10 off!) which is so worth it!
