My September Plan of Action

One of the hardest things I find coming to terms with post-holiday is getting back into a routine. It's no secret that for a while my routine has been a bit all over the place/non-existent (oops!) I struggle quite a bit over the summer when it comes to content creation, it isn't my favourite season - I know a lot of you will disagree but I've never been a massive fan of the summer months. I don't know what it is but there's just something about the summer that pretty much brings my content to a halt and I just end up feeling crap as a result. With that said, September marks the start of a new season and a new lease of life so I'm doing my best to make a change!

I've said time and time again that a routine is what pushes me towards my goals, I can't seem to work without the additional pressure of a schedule constantly sitting at the back of my mind, or a deadline looming. For some reason, that is when I strive. It's not great. Anyone working and living in the 21st century simply doesn't need the added pressure of sticking to a schedule or working well into the early hours to get a task complete before the due date. We're in the era of social media taking over our lives, for some of us social media has become our source of income and in a way is our lives. I definitely feel like I need to make a change with the way I work, how much I work, how often I share and what I choose to share.

But right now, all I know is that I want to do more. I've had real high points with my work, being incredibly proud of everything I produce and working so often and so hard to achieve all that I set myself to achieve. But equally, I've had real low points with my work where I'm not happy with any of the content I produce and most of the time end up moving files that don't make the cut to the trash without thinking twice. This is natural, you're never going to be 100% happy 100% of the time and that's ok.

This month marks the start of a new routine for me, a new schedule to dive in to. Autumn is my favourite season and I love everything about it. So far this month I've been working on so much more content than I have done in the previous summer months, shooting more often and moving my blog to a higher priority which I think is important. I hate the idea of letting my blog wilt because I pushed it away and that won't change unless I make the change. So here's to more new and improved blog content!

Let's move on to a little bit of style talk shall we? Taking it right back to the roots of my blog. I genuinely adore talking about clothing (it sounds so silly when put into words) but the whole reason I started blogging was because I wanted to share my passion for styling and in particular, showcase my personal style.

As we're in autumn of course I had to inject some autumnal hues. I strangely thought that this season we weren't seeing as many oranges and rusts on the high street as in previous years but I've quickly come to the conclusion that I was wrong after looking into my wardrobe which has rapidly become a sea of autumnal shades. The Miss Selfridge team sent me this rust suit which I didn't think was going to work on me because believe it or not, it's from their petite range! I am in no way a petite girl, I'm around 5'9 and rarely even step foot into the petite section so imagine my surprise when I tried this on and thought this actually isn't half bad on me. It's funny because on my shoot with LOOK Magazine in May I wore a Miss Selfridge shorts suit from the petite range which somehow also worked on my tall frame albeit a bit shorter than intended, I still wore it comfortably.

With this rust blazer and wide leg trousers combo, the cropped petite lengths look quite trendy in my opinion. What would be a pair of trousers on someone petite, are long leg culottes on me (which I'm not even mad about) and when it comes to the blazer, the sleeves are shorter than I would like but I'm always hiking up my sleeves anyway so this just works for me. I'm really pleased I didn't just put this to one side and dismiss it as I think styling varying lengths is actually a breath of fresh air. After all, there are no rules when it comes to your own style.

Also, I'm due a mention of these Transitions lenses. I had my first experience with Transitions lenses earlier on in the year and I can't tell you how excited I was for some sunshine so I could making the most out of these glasses. I use glasses on a daily basis, I'm short-sighted so I can't see things in the distance clearly but I've always been too afraid to try contact lenses (which sounds so ridiculous I know) so instead, I almost instinctively take off my glasses before shooting any photos for my blog. If you've never met me in person then you probably wouldn't even think I use glasses, let alone wear them daily!

So I recently got some wire frames as these are just so popular at the moment and even people who don't need glasses are wearing them as a fashion statement. The frames are by Ahlem and I adore them. A very delicate frame but equally sturdy, I haven't had any issues with the frame since I first picked it up a few months back. The lenses are Transitions which basically means they change colour as they adjust to the sunlight, blocking UVA and UVB rays (so important!) Transitions offer a vast array of different lens colours including sapphire, amethyst, amber and emerald as part of their new style colour range. Mine are in sapphire and I think they look so cool against the gold frames and fit in perfectly with the gold accessories I wear on a daily basis. You can also see how they work in these photos, going from clear to dark depending on the sunlight exposure.

The rest of my outfit is pretty simple, the suit really does all the talking here. I put on a white Tshirt from Marks & Spencer - this is one of my favourites that I got in the summer, sadly this style isn't available online anymore but I'll definitely be buying some of the others as the M&S Tshirts are all cotton and so inexpensive starting at only £3.50! A pop of leopard print doesn't do any harm so I slipped on my sling backs from Mango which are a couple of years old now but this just goes to show the wearability of leopard print. I genuinely think it's a must-have print in your wardrobe. So much so that I've written a blog post all about new season leopard print, you can read that post here.

My love of cross body bags will never cease so I picked out a new version of the Carvela styles I love. If you look back at my content from last autumn/winter then you'll see just how much wear I got out of my Carvela cross body bag then, I'm sure this season will be no different! I matched up my gold accessories to my gold frames and popped on a pair of statement earrings too. Statement earrings are about to take over throughout autumn so grab yourself a few pairs if you haven't already! Mine are from good old Primark (and featured in my latest Primark haul if you fancy seeing what else is new in at the moment)! Affordable, super on trend and easy to wear.

    1. Now is as good a time as ever! I think we all tend to slack a little bit in the summer so come September, it's the best time to try and refocus some of that energy X
