3 Sequin Midi Skirts and How To Style Them

3 sequin midi skirts and how to style them
There's just over a week to go until the busiest week of the year, the lead up to Christmas followed by New Year's Eve! I've been sharing so much partywear over on my Instagram recently and I thought it was about time I shared something on my blog too. I wanted to base this post on what has been my absolute go-to this season when it comes to partywear: sequins! The high street has been flooded with sequins and naturally, like a magpie, I've gravitated towards all the glitz and glitter. I decided to pick out three of my favourite sequin midi skirts and style each one in a different way - think: Christmas day, last day at work and going out out.

When I think sequins, I instantly think partywear! So naturally, I had to kick start this post with an outfit fit for a party - whether that be New Year's Eve or Christmas Eve and possibly even Christmas Day if your family usually dresses up for the occasion.

As soon as I laid eyes on this rainbow sequin midi skirt from Oasis I knew it was perfect for the party season! It also comes in a mini version too if you're not a fan of the midi length. I paired it with a rose gold, almost nude, cami from River Island to keep the sparkle going and kept the rest simple by choosing black. I popped on a faux fur coat from Lipsy (still going strong since my 16th birthday) and some black strappy sandals from Public Desire with a block heel so I can party the night away!

I really wanted this to be my smart casual look but I mean, how smart casual is a practically head-to-toe gold outfit?! I based this outfit completely around the gold sequin skirt, it's from & Other Stories and pretty incredible if you ask me. It's obviously a bold piece and initially, I didn't want the outfit to be too overpowering which is why I ended up pairing it with a fluffy white jumper in a bid to tone things down a little. The jumper is from New Look and has Santa Baby on the front, also in gold, which ties in perfectly with the gold skirt.

In my opinion, a midi skirt paired with knitwear makes the perfect combo for Christmas time. The combo makes a great outfit for dinner or an evening out with heels and is equally great paired with trainers for a more casual look (I'm not too sure how casual a gold sequin midi skirt can look but I'm sure you know what I mean!) I went all out with gold heels, oldies from Dune, for my look because why not just go all out - if ever there's an excuse it's Christmas!

Finally, I tried a more casual take on a sequin midi skirt too. It's a little bit tricky to dress down anything sequin as far as I'm concerned so finding a midi skirt that I could integrate into my everyday style was a challenge in itself but when I saw this Marks & Spencer number I knew it would be perfect. Despite being covered in multi-coloured sequins, they're all dark shades making it easy to style with an all black outfit.

When in doubt, stick to black - words to live by. I went for a black roll neck, a winter staple of mine, black ankle boots and a biker jacket - all of these unintentionally from New Look. Despite my love for faux fur coats, I chose something a little less statement to let the skirt do all the talking. You can honestly never go wrong with an all black outfit. So for Christmas, add some sequins!
