Transitioning My Outfits From Winter to Spring

After a glorious weekend filled with sunshine, I've been absolutely besotted with the idea that spring is right around the corner. As an autumn/winter lover, I feel as though I'm cheating with spring but I've never been so excited for a new season to grace us. I've been thinking about my style and what I'll be wearing throughout the spring and despite wanting to prance around in skirts and dresses from now on, it's still a little bit too cold for full on spring looks. So I've been layering up and transitioning my style from winter, ready for spring!

Before we're able to wear mini skirts and our favourite dresses with bare legs, it's all about finding pieces that are transitional - meaning you're still able to wear them layered up throughout the last few weeks of winter and you will also be able to wear them come spring. I usually like to use the new season item as my transitional piece.

For instance with this outfit, my transitional piece is this *satin slip midi skirt. It's a nod to some current and upcoming trends: slip skirts, midi's, leopard print and animal print. It seems as though slip skirts aren't going anywhere and I'm not even mad about it! I've been lusting after a satin slip midi for the longest time but despite trying on many, I hadn't found one that really suited me and my shape until this one landed on my doorstep - it was an unexpected gift from *Mint Velvet which I absolutely adore!

Satin skirts have been around for so long now, see my post: The Satin Skirt Edit.

I paired it with a black crew neck *Tshirt from Miss Selfridge - which could easily be replaced by a long sleeved top or with a jumper on colder days - and I layered a biker jacket over the top. I haven't worn a biker jacket in the longest time and I was so excited to pick mine out to wear again! The one I'm wearing is an oldie from *River Island which I still absolutely love years later.

My boots are from *Office and they're so gorgeous! I've literally been wearing them non-stop, they're perfect in the city and I wear them all the time for events and meetings in London which makes them the perfect boots for me. They're also quite smart black pair and I think they easily dress up an outfit in the evenings too!

I'm quickly becoming obsessed with adding more pieces of jewellery to my outfits too! I'm sure we all know about my obsession with hoop earrings by now so it should come as no surprise that I'm still wearing hoops but these are a small and chunky style which I adore and have pretty much worn daily since buying them last month - they're perfect for every day but also transition really well for the evenings. I've layered some necklaces from *River Island too which I'm sure I'll be doing more of come spring/summer as I adore the look of layered jewellery.
