Designer Swimwear: Is It Worth It?

Crete, Greece
pliq swimwear holiday

Designer swimwear definitely isn't something I have fully invested in, it's something I was quite skeptical over - can you really justify spending near £100 on swimwear?! I love bikinis and this year more than ever I've been obsessed with swimwear ranging from crochet sets to one-piece swimsuits.

PilyQ is a brand I have newly discovered and really come to love. Stocked on Beach Cafe, they really do have all your heart's desire; these sets are from their latest collection and you can see just how different they are, neither being similar to each other. For me personally, I'm happy enough purchasing new swimwear every year, purely down to me being a fashion blogger - I almost feel I need to be wearing what's new right now in order to be able to share it with you, there's nothing more frustrating than coming across a blogger wearing something you love, only to find it was from two seasons ago and no longer available anywhere. However, when talking long term and cost-per-wear I actually think investing in designer swimwear can be better! I know, I know, I just said I like buying new pieces every year but I spend a lot on swimwear that I maybe wear once or twice a year. One thing I've found with cheaper swimwear is that after a few washes it ends up looking worse for wear, and don't get me started on a trip to the beach - those can be fatal.

I think we all know that investing generally means better quality so if you're after something to last then I would splash out on something you love. Otherwise, if you're like me and feel like you need to stay on top of trends or just like wearing new things then go for more affordable sets but be prepared to buy a few.

  1. I LOVE that high necked bikini top! Unfortunately though I couldn't justify spending that much money. Maybe if I went on more holidays then I'd think about it, but at the moment I'd much rather pick something up on the high street.

    1. I'm in the same boat, I don't travel enough nor do I have the same opinion for long enough to splash out although I did fall head over heels in love with a crochet swimsuit from PilQ (I'm wearing it here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BFocrqPioZR/?taken-by=peexo) and I think I would have made an exception for it!
