Like I said, the makeup selection I took away with me was really quite limited, firstly because I'm not a beauty blogger so I don't feel I need to take that many products away with me and I've never been that into makeup so what I have is pretty basic. I only went away for a week anyway and during the day I'd lounge around by the pool or at the beach so all I needed was enough to doll me up in the evenings. I have to admit, I'm useless when it comes to makeup... but with my outfit posts you always see my face and it may be of interest to some of you to see what makeup I wear and how I change up my look every now and then.
Have a look at what I took away with me in my travel makeup bag:
Onto the bold lips! I wanted to make the most of the bright shades that have come out this summer. So I took away my favourite shades, I think three lip products are the perfect amount for me, it probably seems like too little to most of you, but for me it was more than enough. During the day all I used was chapstick to protect my lips from the sun and I only opted for a lipstick in the evenings.
I took away with me a Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet shade in 06 which is a bright pink, fuscia shade. It has a lovely finish although it smells a little funny on application, but the smell disappears soon after. The longevity of this lipstick was amazing, it just doesn't budge! I wore it out to dinner one evening to find out how well it really lasts and it passed the eating and drinking test with flying colours. It faded a little along the inner part of my lips but nothing that left me looking like I had gone out with lip liner and little else.
I had been on the hunt for an orange toned red for the summer as I like wearing reds but I wanted something a little more light, and it was as if ASOS knew what I was searching for. At the ASOS #epicsummer event we were gifted some beauty goody bags and this Lord & Berry lip crayon in #7703 was a part of it! I was one happy girl. It has a glossy finish and looks really nice on the lips. It's not an incredibly in your face orange colour but I quite like the shade.
As this post is titled bright lips for summer I'll only really go in depth (so to speak) about the two bright shades I took on holiday but I have to mention the Rimmel Kate lipstick in 03 which is a beautiful your lips but better shade. It's what I wore mostly in my outfit photos from my time away in Lanzarote as I took most photos before dinner and only got dolled up afterwards. There are some other photos on my Instagram too if you fancy having a little look through.
Do you go for a bright lip in the summer? Which is your favourite summer shade?
