5 Things I'm Looking Forward To This Autumn

peexo blogger 5 things I'm looking forward to this autumn
Autumn is hands down my favourite season. There's something about the autumn breeze, falling leaves and crisp mornings that I absolutely adore. I find I'm at my most inspired throughout autumn too which definitely helps lighten my mood as I feel I'm working to the best of my abilities. Now that it's truly starting to feel like autumn, these are some of the things I'm most looking forward to this season!

1. Autumnal Leaves and Scenes

Everything about autumn is just breathtaking. I love watching the leaves turn from green to red, to orange, to yellow as they fall; walking through the streets kicking the leaves as I walk past. A few days ago I saw a little boy pick up a pile of leaves and just throw them in the air whilst walking under them and that's literally all I want to do in autumn! I try to refrain though because I think a toddler looks cute doing it but a grown woman might raise a few eyebrows.

Autumn really inspires me, I think there's so much opportunity for creating beautiful content and the weather hasn't yet reached it's bleak winter state. There's a real sense of the calm before the storm, the sun is still shining and you can venture outside without a coat, bundled up in your favourite knit without worrying too much about freezing as soon as you step foot outside. Whilst I know this won't last forever - particularly in the UK - I try to make the most of it when it arrives.

2. Knitwear

I bloody love knitwear. This blog post basically consists of me raving about things I love but that's ok, right? Wrapping up and being cosy is one of the greatest things about autumn. I've been desperate for the weather to turn slightly colder so I can now finally wear a jumper without regretting it (this mostly happens when I set foot on the underground). Chunky knits are one of my favourite things about this season and I simply can't resist all of the high street offerings.

I finally think it's time to be stocking up on knitwear. Admittedly, I've been doing it for a few weeks now, the high street has some incredible offerings at various price points ranging between super affordable pieces from Primark and slightly more expensive options from & Other Stories, Topshop and more.

3. Pumpkins and Halloween

I get completely sucked in to the hype of Halloween, I've always loved it. When I was younger, my mum would take me trick-or-treating so my friends and I would love getting dressed up into our spooky costumes, add some fake blood and then set out on our sweet adventure. Houses nearby go all out every year and even now I like to head out and see who's gone all out this year (I've come across houses with projectors lighting up their front yard, inflatable black cats - my personal favourite house - and so much more!)

This year, I took a trip to a pumpkin patch and it was so lovely! I managed to convince my best friend and our mums to come along and we had a really lovely morning. The pumpkin patch was filled with young families taking their little ones to choose their Halloween pumpkins so I felt somewhat out of place but loved every minute of it nonetheless. We came home with far too many pumpkins but it was so worth it! I took so many photos too - who could resist?! - and shared them all in a blog post which you can catch up on here.

4. Wearing Ankle Boots

And just like that, we've reached my guilty pleasure: ankle boots. I love love love love love ankle boots. Would you believe that before starting my blog I never even dreamed of wearing heeled ankle boots. Being quite tall I always felt a bit self-conscious about it and hated towering over all of my friends in school so I would search for boots that were completely flat, even the slightest bit of a heel was just too much for me. I'm so happy that starting my blog allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and truly experiment with my style more which led to my ankle boot obsession.

Everybody needs a pair of ankle boots, there is simply no doubt in my mind about this. Whether you're into flat ankle boots or high heeled ankle boots, they're a necessity. I personally love block heels and a high leg as I find these are the most flattering fit when paired with both jeans and bare-legs. I really love experimenting with my footwear too, it's quite strange as I wouldn't say I'm very daring but for some reason, when it comes to ankle boots I'm all about picking the most extravagant pair. I have floral boots, leopard print boots, leather boots, red boots, suede boots, faux snake skin boots - honestly, everything.

5. Pumpkin Spiced Lattes / Hot Beverage of Choice

I'm not a massive coffee drinker/fan but come autumn, I'm first in line to purchase my first pumpkin latte of the season because as soon as it's released it means it's officially autumn right? I mentioned previously that I simply love feeling cosy and there's something about a warm drink - whether that be a pumpkin spiced latte, tea or hot chocolate - that makes me feel warm and snuggly inside.

This outfit may not be the most autumnal but I think I've nailed it with the location, whilst strolling through Battersea Park on a quiet Monday morning everything looked so beautiful I had to stop and take some snaps.

I'm wearing a breton stripe top from Saint James L'atelier, somewhat on the pricier side but really beautiful. My bag of choice is pretty consistent, so once again it's my black Carvela crossbody bag - no surprises there I bet. Jeans are Farleigh's (again, my absolute favourites) this particular pair has a D-ring detail on either side which I think distinguishes them from my other pairs, at least that's what I told myself before making the decision to purchase my fifth pair.. yes that's right, fifth pair! My red ankle boots are new in for autumn and they're simply stunning. As soon as I spotted these online I knew I needed to make them mine this season, and then I came across them in store and my love for them grew even more. I know they're not going to be to everybody's taste but I love them so much! They're a gorgeous deep red, the perfect height and a great addition to my ankle boot collection.
