How To Implement Knitwear Into Your Spring Looks

In true British style, we're at that awkward phase where some days its sunny and then, without warning, it rains! With that said, layering remains key and I've found my favourite way of carrying forward some wardrobe favourites by juxtaposing autumn/winter/spring/summer pieces.

I've completely fallen for gingham; I think it comes as no surprise to see me sporting yet another gingham piece, this time, a mini skirt from Primark believe it or not! I picked this up for only £8 which was a real bargain (see everything else I bought from Primark for spring here) but if you don't have a nearby branch then New Look have a really similar version which is also affordable. I've been automatically pairing gingham with black and white so I decided to choose something a little different for a change and go for a lighter and more neutral colour palette.

I love outfits like this where everything is balanced. A mini skirt is perfect for spring/summer but when the weather is cooler, I like adding something that will keep me warm. I've already talked about how I usually choose to bare either my legs or my arms when in the city during summer here and when it's cooler, or perhaps even for an evening, I think adding knitwear is a great option. Despite having a wardrobe filled with knitwear, I recently bought this lightweight jumper from Missguided; it felt a bit wrong ordering knitwear but the British summer is always so temperamental I knew I would still get plenty of wear out of it - despite purchasing it in June - I find the cold shoulder also makes it feel a little more spring-like too!

To finish off my British summer look I went for a pair of nude ankle boots. I love ankle boots so I have no issues carrying those forward to spring/summer. These are from New Look which I like but have actually given me friction burn on the side of my leg where the lining comes together which isn't ideal, not too sure whether I'll be getting much more wear out of them now as I can't exactly pair them with long socks at the moment (although I am wearing knitwear in June so who knows?!)
