Travel Bag Mini's

Lanzarote, Las Palmas, Spain

So after my week of holiday themed posts, pictures and outfits galore, being so well received by you I thought I'd carry on with a few more holiday themed posts this week. It's still pretty early on in the summer so I'm sure quite a lot of people will be planning on going on holiday somewhere and I always find travel posts really useful - I'm an over packer when it comes to clothes so I need to tackle makeup and toiletries and ensure all I take are the essentials. Today's post will be a look into my toiletry bag minis and what was in my beach bag during the week...

I thought I'd let you have a little peak into my beach bag too! I used a Cath Kidston polka dot bag because it's coated in plastic (or something like that) so even if it gets wet it just slides off and it can be wiped down easily with a wet cloth, which is perfect for a beach bag. Inside I had some essentials like tissues, headphones, a spare phone charger and a book to keep me occupied while tanning. In the little pink bag you see popping out I kept tanning oils and sun cream because I didn't want it all getting mixed with the electricals - now that would be a disaster!

My flip flops are from Ipanema if you're wondering.. they're the best pair, so versatile, and the best bit is that the flip flop strap is changeable! Who even knew that was possible?! These swap strap flip flops came with three different colours: white, baby blue and navy blue. They were my beach flip flops and they're perfect for me this summer as I'm going on three holidays, so they have the perfect number of straps haha!

Anyway! Onto my holiday mini's... for real this time haha. In the beauty blogging world this will probably look crazy; how can someone travel with so little?! Well I wasn't lying to you when I said I pack very lightly when it comes to makeup and beauty products (and I'm thinking it's a good thing!). The mini's I took away with me are mostly bath and hair essentials as they're much easier to carry than big bottles of shampoo and conditioner for example. But honestly apart from this I took little else in my toiletry bag, of course I took things like toothpaste, a toothbrush as well as sun cream, after sun and so on but those are basics and you're probably not interested in me talking about those as I know very little...

For hair I had initially bought the Herbal Essences Hello Hydration shampoo and conditioner from Primark so each mini was only £1, I managed to save a few pennies there! But when I went along to the #epicsummer ASOS event, we were given some beauty goodies including this Eva-nye shampoo and I really wanted to try it so I took it with me on holiday and ended up with a bit of a mix and match. I took some Victoria's Secret body lotion and their spray mist which smells divine! The perfect little bottle for summer, and it's plastic too so no need to worry about carrying around glass bottles of perfume which could break and ruin all your things.

For hair care I took a mini bottle of Batiste dry shampoo, surely dry shampoo is an essential for everybody? It's the perfect travel size for a week away and does it's job. I also took some Clynol hair oil as I had never really used it before but in the sun your hair can get really dry from all the water (ironic) and constantly drying your hair. In the evenings I'd take a few drops of this, warm it up in my hands and then apply it along the ends of my hair to give my hair a little shine.

I think my toiletry bag is from Marks & Spencer but it's really old so don't hold me on that one. It's just a basic bag with roses on the outside but what I like about it is that it has a plastic lining on the inside so in case there are any spills inside it won't absorb into the fabric and ruin the bag. I usually take the clear plastic toiletry bags with me but this year I kept my accessories in a clear bag so I could use every thing I took with me. I find that with toiletries you tend to take them out of the bag once you arrive, and if not, you know you'll need to grab your body wash from there so you'll inevitably have a look through, whereas with jewellery you sometimes forget what you pack and don't end up using half of what you took away with you.

Which mini's do you take away with you on holiday?

    1. They're so handy! You'll use them up on holiday and then you can throw them out, saves having to repack half-empty bottles and gives you a little more space for holiday shopping ;) X

    1. Haha I know! It makes you want to buy them all and I end up feeling like I can buy more because they're so little but then that defeats the purpose of mini's (too many will be as heavy as bigger bottles haha), I tried really hard to only take essentials! X
