Let's Go To The Beach, Beach

Portugal

This is me trying really hard to hold a smile whilst attempting to get the perfect jumping in the ocean shot haha, it's tough work! As you probably know I'm in Portugal at the moment, and will be until late August, on holiday with my family. We always try to go to the beach for a few days during our month here as we're from the countryside, so there are no beaches around us (much to people's disbelief). Last week we decided it was time to hit the beach and soak up the sun. We went to Praia da Barra, a beach near the city of Aveiro and it was great! The sun, the beach, the sea breeze, it was the perfect setting to sit back and relax. Here are a few photos of our mini break, it's beautiful over there...

Praia da Barra is known because it houses the tallest lighthouse in Portugal, it really is high up! You can actually go inside it on Wednesday's but we had no idea and missed out, I'm not too sad about that because I'm imagining the only way to get up is via swirly steps and I hate those! The houses near the beach were all really intricate too, I love houses covered in tiles, it gives a real beach feel and of course there were palm trees scattered all over the place. The beach was constantly full of people, apart from on the final day where there were a few summer showers which scared most people, including us, away from the beach.

Portuguese cuisine is one of the best in my opinion (I may be biased as I am Portuguese haha) but the desserts we had were mouth wateringly good. So good that we went back twice! Considering we only stayed 3 nights, that's a lot! We also took an evening trip to another nearby beach called Costa Nova which is known for its striped beach houses and they were amazing, somehow being there made us think of Balamory haha. One thing I really wanted to do but didn't get the chance was to sit and watch the sunset over the sea, we were there for so little time that we didn't have the time but oh well, that gives me an excuse to go back next summer haha!

Looking over all the photos I took of the three days we stayed at Praia da Barra and cutting it down to only a few photos was really hard but I hope you like this selection.

  3. Those waffles look amazing! I went to Portugal last year, it's such a nice holiday! Not too hot that you can't enjoy it, but hot enough to spend all day sunbathing haha. You have such a perfect figure as well!
